When Disaster Strikes
To continue along with this thought process, on the validity of Good coming out of evil. I was brought back to the recent events in both Greensboro Kansas, and the recent shootings at our high schools and university’s.
Let’s just begin with the idea that Good existed in these communities before the tragic events. People went there way in their daily lives maybe not thinking about God very much, and then after the happening, they begin to look up. When I say begin to look up, what I’m saying is, that they begin to call on God or see Him in action.
Calling on Him to lessen their hardships, or to help with the needed strength to make it through. For some, they begin to see the Good in their neighbor as the representation of the Goodness of God in man.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, that Goodness just didn’t come into being, after these events. It was there all long. There in those who call on Him in time of need, or in those who reached out to help themselves by helping others. Either way, it is the evil, that makes momentary events change, and it is that, that is not the norm.
When tragedy comes in the form of Mother Nature, (you notice we don’t apply that force to that of God) Guess it’s the old apple thing? But in truth it is Matter where all conflict lies. God again, is the ALL GOOD. The only true Goodness we know.
When God created the heavens and the earth, inherent in them was order. The seasons, night and day, tides, wind patterns and the like.
We as earthlings have no real dominium over the winds or the seas, so we leave that up to what we call Mother Nature; and its is indeed her doing when it comes to making change.
I suppose change for most is a very difficult element of life. Some of us don’t accept it readily. However like Mother Nature, it is a part of our being.
Because it can be devastating we seem to link it, among all the things we fear hence, bad! However, if we just look to Greensboro in this instance, the fear is only the not knowing the outcome. And it is there where we should be hanging on to the courage and strength in our belief in GOOD or GOD. While that tornado was twisting
Our thoughts should have been with God, as I’m sure most were. However here is where
we lose it. When the storm is over, we put our GOOD away for another day.
Why do we only need Him in time of trouble? Why don’t we need Him in all times?
Why can’t He be the Good in our lives always? And the more we see the Good in ourselves and others, the more we see God.
To see God what change is truly necessary? I will say that it is our preconceived ideas
Of who and what God truly is. Let me please just give you a little example.
Many years ago we sent our only child to a camp to help him lose weight, and to give him the skills to become more self sufficient.
He was a little chunky so we sent him to a place where we knew they would help him with his weight. When it was time to pick him up, we were told where to get him and we went there looking for him. We passed him right by, as we proceeded to look down the hall. It was only after some sense within me rang out, saying “that was him”, that I turned around to see my son, who I had not recognized.
Why hadn’t I recognized him? Because I had an expectation of what he looked like before. He now, no longer fit that description.
However there is a way to recognize God and it might not be in the way you think it to be. It might not be they way you preconceive it?
What I will tell you is that if you don’t match up to the character of God, you will never see Him. You will be searching the rest of your life, for your preconceived ideas.
God is in the Best character of man. He doesn’t live when we lie, or wish ill on others.
He only lives and comes alive in us when we truly do GOOD. Not the selfish good that we do expecting ego gratification. That good is done just to make ourselves look better in the others eyes. The good that is GOOD, is when we do GOOD for Him, out of our Love for Him, and in turn His Love of all GOOD CHILDREN OF GOD.
