When asked about the question of if there is a god, Budda replied that the question is unimportant. You can not know if there is or isn't a god, you can only serve to reduce your own suffering and the suffering of those around you. Buddha neither denied or confirmed the exitence of a god.
Many see the Budda as their godly expression, millions pray to him, as they do to Allah. Why would a person with complete enlightenment, not confirm the existence of something greater than himself? If this was the Enligten Ones explanation, I think it more then lacking. It preculdes a sense of selfishness , by placing the emphasis on reducing ones own suffering, and that of others as well. However without an acknowlegement of the Higher Self, no suffering can be eliminated. And as for eliminating the suffering of others, just ask yourself if when you are in pain can you help or even think of relieving the pain of another? I find this idea of buddas non commital "idea" lacking in the inner strength and conviction.
Budda has also been seen as a loving god, if he hasnt committed to stating he is a god, then his love would also be lacking committment.
I dont know about you, but when it comes to love, I seek a whole hearted commitment! I also expect Truth and honesty, not vagueness or a sense of ..you decide? Yes Christ also asked at one point "who do you say I am?"
Leaveing that decision up to you. However He did ultimately give us His commitment to both God and His purpose, never leaving us open to doubt! He did say to us..I and my Father are One!
He also didnt leave us a question, for He was not of ideas...but of Principled Ideals.
Ideas are answers to a question, a problem solved, or a Eureka moment that gives us an insight to who we believe ourselves to be? Of course those moments are for our development important, but we can waste so much of our time, seeking something that lives within our heart!
Christ never told us to seek anything but God. He even showed us the Way. When the world decides that Christ has little to do with the religious boxes man has placed Him in, and instead, see His existance as something they can be..then we may begin to walk the road towards Peace. We then may see ourselves as true brothers under the skin. We would truly KNOW GOD our Purpose and the Lasting LOVE, that only the Christ can provide.
