As I watched both men call upon thier ideas and beliefs, I saw the defining differences between Mc Cain and Obama.
There is some truth to the idea of an age difference, however I think it has more meaning than just that.
With Obama, many saw his hesitation to respond as thoughtful, seeing his hesitation in response to the abortion question as one of ( above his pay grade). There might be much truth in his answer, and even more in his non answer. It was completely telling of someone who calls themselves Christian, yet doesnt support the essence of Christ.
Those who believe they are uber intelligent, seem to believe all questions have so many varied answers, that not "one" can fit all? He gives more credence to the agony of a woman's decision to abort, than to the Father whose hand gave life to that child. Than where should we place Mr Obama statement "what you do to the least of my breathren" apply?. Ask any mother who first finds out that she is pregnant if she believes she is carring life?
We live in a disposible society where even the news of a gift of life, for some, is too inconvient. I dont know if those who can easily or even not easily dispose of a life, have the understanding of what they are carrying. I believe those are the most selfish of us. For all Mr Obama claims he is caring, the idea of not being able to respond to the ultimate life question, lets me see the truth in who he really is.
He is no more a real Christian, than any of those who claim to be it , while knowing nothing of what it takes to truly be one. Mr Obama, is more the live and let live Christian, whose character supports his need at the time. Unfortunately, Christ took His disciples from their homes and families for a purpose. They were in training to become like Him. Not to accept what others perfer to do, but instead to live with the integrity that Christ was training them to live.
Modernists today, think that integrity, keeping ones word, following the Christ is a religion. They believe that so that they can dismiss the hard core personal disciple. They never need to prove themselves , never need to be truthful in all things, its not a personal requirement. If a child can be aborted , why not an ideal? If you can dismiss principles values and ideals, you can certainly dismiss a helpless fetus?
This is a defining time in our lives. Its as if Europe's attiude resides in Obama supporters, while American ideals are in Mc Cain. Its as if those who lived a disciplined life, made truly tough decisions or who faced thier own death, have learned to make tough decisions. They hold on to life, becuase they know in order to love life, much was asked of them. They were tested, and once one is tested, they know who they are! There is no need to be thoughful, for life have already given them the answers. They know what "right" is, becuase they fought for thier own life. They dont have the luxury to be vague. For life has scuptured in them, the answers that have already elimininated the extranious stone that hides the true character living within the stone.
It is a new age question. And the answer will be decided by the needs of our people. I only hope the true Christan Character pervails. For His has told us, He is the Way the Truth and the Life!
