Why Christians see Marriage as Sacred

June 15, 2009

As a Christian, I have been unhappy with the arguments given regarding gays who wish to marry. So, after looking up the meaning of the word marriage, I came to see, that according to its definition, the word “marriage”, has little to do with anything spiritual.

And as a Christian, my spiritual understanding takes precedent.

Who would ever have thought, that in today’s world, the word “marriage” would be seen as controversial? They know they have temporarily lost their connection, when they begin to experience unhappiness. All the prayers in the world, somehow don’t close that gap. However the conscious  understaning of  what makes us unhappy is the beginning of our reconnect.

The erroneous part of man's bodily Nature keeps us focused on filling the void, with things. Food, clothes, toys etc, as the temporal satisfactions we seek. They are all wonderful play things, but they will only satisfy us temporaraly, They only become meaningful to our spirit when we acknowledge where they come from. With  thankfulness to God, they then become both materially and spiritually purposeful. It is this remembering and acknowledgement  that begins...
